Barbara Walker and Uri Caine began playing together in their hometown of Philadelphia and have worked with each other on numerous projects in the past years playing many styles of music together.
Barbara has been part of many of Uri’s past recording projects including  the Goldberg Variations, the Passion of Octavius Catto, the Sidewalks of New York (a tribute to Tin Pan alley music), as well as appearing on his recordings featuring songs by Gustav Mahler and George Gershwin. She also appeared as a guest on Caine’s Bedrock trio recordings.

This project, called Songs of Hope and Resistance, features Uri and Barbara playing in the intimate setting of a duo.They will perform songs from the gospel and spiritual tradition, protest songs from the past as well as new  songs composed this year reflecting what is happening today.
