ANJA LECHNER solo
Hailed by Germany’s Fono Forum as “a cellist without borders”, Anja Lechner embraces a world of music in solo performances that can move from the 16th century to contemporary composition, from music influenced by folk traditions to improvised music and her own pieces. Many composers, recognizing her capacity to convey a story with her playing, have written music for her, including Valentin Silvestrov, Tigran Mansurian, Tõnu Kõrvits, Zad Moultaka and Dino Saluzzi. Equally conversant with Bach, Schubert, Debussy, the Tango Nuevo or Komitas, she finds the lyrical heart of each idiom. Her work as soloist and chamber musician in multiple contexts has been documented on numerous recordings for ECM.
