ALBUM - dance! skip! hop!2026 (LP/CD/limited streaming) on Out Of Your Head Records

“She is known simultaneously as one of the most delicate and fierce improvisers in jazz.”–Qobuz

“If their WJF set was any indication, Reid’s soon-to-be-released dance! skip! hop! (Out Of Your Head) is going to be a Top Ten contender for the year.” –JazzTimes

**** "Reid's quartet delivers one of its most unfettered, confident explorations of their high-spirited sound." –DownBeat

"Tomeka Reid is simply a singular and generational talent. An acclaimed cellist, she is also an edgy, daring composer who has combined her love of different musical genres into a syncretic blend that defines her compositional language." --New York City Jazz Record

Both the compositions and improvising on dance! skip! hop! are as exceptional as you would expect from one of finest regular working bands in jazz and creative music. The quartet sounds more refined than ever, but also takes chances that only a band that has logged countless hours touring together can, with a playful spirit that the title suggests. They seem to one-up themselves with each successive album, and the release of dance! skip! hop! goes a long way to help Nate Chinen’s prediction that 2026 is “The
Year of Tomeka Reid” become a reality.
