MYRA MELFORD AND SATOKO FUJII DUO
When two of the most accomplished and creative voices in contemporary improvised music meet on stage, magic happens. First introduced by Paul Bley in 1994, Fujii and Melford have been performing internationally since 2007, from Berkeley to Brussels to Tokyo and Padova. Fujii and Melford are modern keyboard giants and ferocious, transcendent practitioners of their art. Together they become a powerhouse unit creating dynamic, gripping music. With original repertoire and prodigious improvisations that explore the piano both inside and out, Fujii and Melford continually open new avenues of pianistic expression, embracing the joy, challenges, and potentialities of synthesizing their unique approaches to their instrument.
