Andrea Motis is a Spanish jazz singer and trumpet player. At the age of fifteen, she recorded her debut album Joan Chamorro Presents Andrea Motis. She made her major label debut with the worldwide release of Emotional Dance (Impulse), followed by Do outro lado do azul (Verve). Colors and shadows, Andrea’s album with WDR Big Band, was released in 2021 (Jazzline). Loopholes, her new record, was released worldwide in the spring of 2022.
Andrea has collaborated with renowned artists such as Quincy Jones, Yo-Yo Ma, Omara Portuondo, Milton Nascimento, Gil Goldstein and Scott Hamilton among others.
Trumpeter and singer Andrea Motis has been playing with guitarist Josep Traver since the very beginning of her career, when she was 13 years old. «The magic that exists between the two of us is very difficult to reproduce with other people, because he is the guitarist with whom I have played the most, and for years we have listened to each other almost every day», explains the Barcelona artist. Motis points out that what she likes most about Traver is his subtlety and his eclectic background after many years of experience as a professional. The repertoire they play as a duo has a distinctly jazzy epicenter, but as they're mostly drawn to the form of songs, they love to move between genres, from country and blues to singer-songwriter music and Brazilian sounds.
