Antónima is the latest album from Grammy nominated vocalist, composer, and producer Sofía Rei. Its original songs explore themes of female empowerment, solitude, migrant identity, political indifference, and the paradoxes of the digital age - a lyrical landscape where ancestral storytelling meets contemporary resonance.

A crucial force behind the album’s distinctive sound is JC Maillard, Sofía Rei’s longtime collaborator and co-producer, whose creative vision was central to shaping the record. A multi-instrumentalist from Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, Maillard draws on deep experience in world music, Caribbean styles, jazz, and experimental traditions.The album also bears the distinctive sonic imprint of the late, acclaimed sound wizard Bob Power, whose work shaped its unique character.
