Reading the names above, seeing the pictures, you likely know
that each of these men is recognized without dispute as one of
the finest jazz interpreters on his instrument - bass and guitar respectively. Long time colleagues with both diverse music histories and collegial experience in a variety of circumstances, they now join forces to present audiences with a new conversation. Performing as a duo, they will play original compositions each have contributed to their repertoire with a selection of jazz standards added to the mix. Those familiar with their individual artistry can expect nothing less than a unique and compelling meeting of their musical minds - virtuosity, enjoyment and depth.

„Die beiden Herren sind in dieser überschaubaren Besetzung 2021 und 2024 ausgiebig auf Tour gewesen. Ich habe sie im November 2021 in der Philharmonie Essen erlebt – ein absolut beeindruckendes Konzert. Als ich aber jetzt die ersten Töne von ,Icons At The Fair‘, dem Opener des neuen Albums ,Memories Of Home‘ hörte, dachte ich nur: ‘Das ist der Unterschied: Die Nähe!’ Denn Dank der großartigen, warmen Aufnahme von Engineer Scott Petito sitze ich jetzt direkt vor den beiden Musikern und spüre jede Note, jede Saitenschwingung, jedes Spielgeräusch. Diese Club@Home-Atmosphäre, bei der man auch noch das schöne Booklet der bei ECM erschienenen CD genießen kann, ist dieser Musik absolut entsprechend. Und dieses erste Stück kommt einfach mit einer unglaublichen Spannung rüber, groovt so großartig, dass man sogar den nicht vorhandenen Drummer zu hören scheint. So einen gab es schon mal: ,Alone Together‘ (1973) von Ron Carter und Jim Hall wurde allerdings fast auf den Tag 52 Jahre früher aufgenommen, und ist immer noch ein genialer, zeitloser Maßstab für diese Besetzung. Scofield war damals 21 Jahre alt, studierte Jazz am Berklee College of Music in Boston – er wird dieses Album gehört haben.
