The musical output of Swiss vocal artist Andreas Schaerer is phenomenal (...) No less creative and imaginative, but above all characterized by an exuberant joy of music-making, is the quartet with his compatriot and master drummer Lucas Niggli, the Italian accordionist Luciano Biondini and the Finnish guitarist Kalle Kalima.

Four distinctive individualists with a bandleader format, each of whom also has numerous projects of their own, moving between the poles of tradition and avant-garde, composition and free improvisation, virtuosity and wit. Originally, the Swiss duo wanted to expand into a trio format with Biondini and Kalima and then, during a "wild two-hour collective improvisation", according to Schaerer, they rather accidentally discovered the potential that unfolds when these four experts are on stage at the same time. In fact, it is astonishing to hear the vehemence with which the music takes off when Mediterranean keyboard virtuosity meets Finnish avant-rock jazz guitar and sensitive, ethno-infused percussion, and - as primus inter pares, if you will - a unique vocalist can bring the most diverse facets of his often astonishing art to full effect. Schaerer sings in Italian, Finnish, English and Valais German, scats like hell, and if you think about which great guest trumpeter you are listening to, for example, you will be amazed to discover that the mouth-ready vocal acrobat imitates something deceptively real even without brass. All participants contribute their own compositions with their special roots and preferences, triggering unexpected bursts of creativity in the others, which is just as much fun to listen to as it must have been to make music.
